Dear Police, Let's Live In Harmony

Apparently, most of the people (I'm using the word 'most', as I don't want to go into statistics) have this uneasy and scary feeling around the police.
Let me say this loud and clear enough one more time..!!

THE POLICE FORCE IS TO ENSURE OUR SAFETY BUT NOT TO SCARE US

If you've got some visions(Oh! Hello Bran Stark. TheThree-EyedRaven, big fan)that you are going to be beaten up by the police, you are wrong unless you are participating in a protest or dharna organized by anAnti-Ruling Party or association. Well, we have to admit that sometimes few of the police tends to overdo for their own sake or their interest's sake. So unless you are a supporter and participant of such activity, you can have a beer and chill..!!
And also when you are traveling, this feeling is inevitable. I can understand that you don't know all the 20+ rules to be followed by a commuter and the chances of getting pulled off are high in this situation. But it is completely irrational in the situations where you are on the law-abiding side and still gets scared by the presence of Police around you.
It may be because of different reasons like a) where you've had bad experiences in the past with some policeman. The reason why the police act that way can vary again, but I'm sure that we can narrow them down them to NOT RESPECTING THEM AS THEY DESERVE, THEY MIGHT BE HAVING A BAD DAY. Imagine standing in the broad day sunlight the whole day where people don't even care about your presence.
Let me put it this way, when your partner/friend throws tantrums and displaying mood swings because of hectic work schedules, you just try to confront them and empathize their situation of not having the sleep, rest and so on. Police go through the same where they are destined without any holidays and rest, with unpredictable working hours where the diet, sleep varies from one day to the other.
Furthermore, with all these odd eating and sleeping habits, we expect them to maintain a beach body. And If not, their pictures become a meme material.

If the body shaming a female model/actress is sick, then this one's sick too (uh-huh ! Sorry Feminists, you won't understand this.)
The other reason can be)You might have a phobia of police, which by the way doesn't exist. You have to reconsider your views regarding this.
I'm not saying that just because they have odd working hours, have illiterate politicians ordering them to whip common people they have a right to be rude and misbehave, I'm just suggesting that if given the right amounts of respect and empathy for them, everything will be smooth. It's not much to ask as one might deal with the police for maybe 1 or 2 percent of their life and there is no reason to make it a bad experience.
And for the Policemen (if someone is reading this, which might not happen )if someone's respecting you it's a basic thing to respect them back. Everyone's not a criminal right?. Don't forget the father, brother, uncle under that khaki uniform.
So next time when you cross the police just keep this in mind and treat them with a little respect.
If possible, just try to salute them (only in the daytime though, if you don't want a breath analyzer in your mouth ).

That One ETERNAL Problem In Middle Class Youths

"It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting." Paulo Coelho, Quoted in 'The Alchemist'. Sure, it does sound fairy and exciting that one has to chase and pursue their dreams and give a meaning to one's life. And in contemporary lives, we also have great examples to support this way of thinking like Zuckerberg and Gates. It might be your family or your friends (except for Asians)pushing you to chase your dreams, while hell of a lot of movies, books, motivators sometimes even babas force the Asian kids to chase their dreams. Dreams are like medicines which allow you to feel and they actually make you better. But the contrary situation would be taking too many medicines which will destroy the basic senses. So one must be aware and know when to stop. I may not be a qualified doctor in this topic but I want to be your local drug store pharmacist in this situation and help you in deciding when to stop. Just because you ...

The Curious Case of Sheena Bora

Imagine this! Follow my words clearly. A lady is convicted of killing her daughter from her first marriage with the help of her second husband because the daughter was in a relationship with her third husband’s ex-wife’s son. Confusing & shocking, right? This is precisely what happened in Indrani Mukerjea (formerly known as Pori Bora): the mother. On April 24, 2012, Sheena Bora (the daughter who got killed) took leave from the office, and by the evening resigns from the company over an email and never returns. The office doesn’t care . Why would they? The boyfriend/ Husband - Rahul Mukerjea (there has been no/little evidence that they got married) gets an SMS that she is going out with her mother and would be back the next morning. But instead, switches off her mobile, and disappears. When he probes in, Indrani tells him that Sheena went to the US because she isn’t happy in the relationship. Just like that! But he cares and tries to file a complaint with the police, but police do h...

The Monk who set himself on Fire

We all have seen people dripping in kerosene, matches in their hands, screaming that they would kill themselves if their demands aren’t met with. We all have witnessed instances like this since years either in movies or on the news. This is called ‘Self-Immolation.’ This article is about how this act of burning oneself has become an iconic act of rebellion worldwide. The United States of America (USA) has always been a dominant country but of course - just as any country would- lost some. While a conventionally educated US citizen would disagree and point out things like, ‘It wasn’t our war, we were just helping. That’s what powerful friends do’ or ‘What we have achieved even though we lost the war is important’, there are four/five debatable losses. But the one in the context is the Vietnam war(1955-1975). Back when North Vietnam and South Vietnam existed (Reunified in 1975), the Communists backed North Vietnam and the anti Communists backed South Vietnam kept fighting for...
